Does Partsemble work with Xero?

Yes. Partsemble integrates with Xero for exporting builds and receipts, syncing suppliers, and pulling sales data for margin tracking. See Xero for setup details.

How is the Xero integration different from QuickBooks?

The main difference is how inventory is managed. QuickBooks Online (Plus and Advanced) supports inventory adjustments via API, so Partsemble can update QBO item quantities when builds and receipts are exported. Xero doesn't have this capability, so Partsemble manages inventory directly — your builds and receipts are exported to Xero as journal entries that keep your financials accurate, while Partsemble tracks the inventory quantities.

In practice, this means Xero users get the same production management and cost tracking features — the only difference is that inventory lives in Partsemble rather than being synced bidirectionally.

Can I sync my Xero items into Partsemble?

Yes. Partsemble syncs tracked inventory and non-inventory items from Xero. You can import them as Partsemble products, which pulls in the item name, code (SKU), and cost. After import, the products are managed in Partsemble for inventory purposes.

How are builds and receipts exported to Xero?

As manual journal entries. When you export a build, Partsemble creates a journal entry that debits your finished goods account and credits your COGS or raw materials account. Receipt exports work similarly with appropriate debit/credit entries. You configure these GL accounts in Settings → Integrations.

Can I track sales margins with Xero?

Yes. When sales tracking is enabled (Advanced plan), Partsemble syncs invoices and credit notes from Xero. Each sale consumes finished good lots via FIFO, giving you accurate per-sale and per-product margin calculations — the same as with QuickBooks.

Do I need to give Partsemble my Xero password?

No. Partsemble uses OAuth 2.0. You authorize access through Xero's sign-in page. Partsemble only stores encrypted access tokens, which you can revoke at any time from Xero's Connected Apps settings.

Why can't I choose "Sync with Xero" for inventory?

Xero doesn't provide an API for adjusting inventory item quantities. There's no way for Partsemble to update your Xero item stock levels when a build or receipt is processed. Instead, Partsemble manages inventory directly and exports the financial side as journal entries. This is set automatically during setup.

Can I use Partsemble with both Xero and QuickBooks?

On the Advanced plan, you can have up to 2 accounting integrations. Each can be a different provider — for example, one QBO company and one Xero organization.
